Learned work ethic from him and my Parents, Period. Bow and Arrow skills no one knows I have. Strong Methodist Loyal in Love Well Past the End. Perseverance in Trade beyond many men. I only met Mr. Porter for about two hours on Saturday before he died while viewing his home on the market. He was so proud of the house and was eager to share all the intricacies showing everything from how he blocked off the air ducts from winter to summer to his wotkshed. My mother was an x-ray technician and he shared his work at Duke. He talked about moving into the home about 4 houses down whom an Aunt had owned. He dhowed his shot gun reloading and we talked about hunting and fishing. His meticulous detail sold me on the house, but also his worn Bible in the shed spoke volumes of the kind of man he was. Chuck and I were shocked to learn of his death when his agent looked to find him to present my offer to buy his home and gain a new neighbor. My heart and prayers are with the family, but from what I have learned from that brief encounter is that he is home with God did the wife he loved. I lost my father suddenly also - my prayers for the family- you were blessed to have him. Terry Alice McInnis

Katrina and David, I am so sorry for your loss. Eric was a wonderful friend and person to work with at Duke. I know you will miss him greatly. Tim thought the world of him as well. He and your mom are reunited until eternity now which I believe is what he wanted. I am sorry I was out of town for his service. My thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families. Family and Friends: We are deeply saddened to hear of Eric passing. Both my wife, Deanie , and I were fortunate to work with Eric throughout the nearly 50 years he served the Radiology Dept. in an exemplerary supervisory position. More so, Katherine and Eric were good friends and shared many of their children's milestone accomplishments. Eric was a man who loved his wife Katherine, the life they made together and the beautiful family they shared. He made great contributions to the Duke Hospital family that will continue to be noted in healthcare. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He was loved by many and will be missed. My condolences to Katrina and David and your family. I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with Eric for so many years at Duke, I thought so highly of him and really thought he knew almost everything there was to know. In the 30 years I knew Eric, he always had that smile that told you he was up to something. He would stop by the office to chat and we would laugh over some of the silliest things.
