Elizabeth Walker
Owner
When I retired from UNC and joined my husband, Allen Walker, Jr. at the funeral home, I began a journey that has been amazing and challenging beyond words. When Allen died suddenly, I was overwhelmed but committed to maintaining the company and serving the communities – our neighbors. And to this day, I am proud to affirm that Walker's Funeral Home continues to be dedicated to giving the best and most compassionate service. "Our Family Serving Your Family since 1922" says it all.

Todd Harmon
Funeral Director
Todd received his Funeral Directors license from the NC Board of Funeral Service in 1994. His interest in funeral service, however, goes back to the late ‘60s. It was the admiration of the late NC Senator Ollie Harris that piqued his interest. Senator Harris owned and operated Harris Funeral Home in King Mountain, NC where both of Todd’s parents were born. While he grew up in High Point, his family returned to Kings Mountain for family visits, reunions, weddings, and family funerals. Todd’s mother had dated Ollie’s son before she married his dad, so the family was treated like royalty by Mr. Harris.
Over the years, Todd observed how his extended family was treated by the funeral home staff and developed an interest in the business. He was going to be a funeral director! Fast-forward to Christmas break of his senior year in high school, 1980. He chickened out of attending mortuary school in Atlanta and applied to High Point College (back when it was a little Methodist-affiliated college on Montlieu Avenue in High Point). After changing his major a couple of times, he graduated with a business degree in Home Furnishings Marketing. However, his first job after graduation was with Wachovia Bank in their management training program as the “repo man” in the Sales Finance Department. He then worked in retail banking but still had an interest in the funeral business.
Glancing through the classified ads, he saw “Insurance agent willing to get funeral directors license” and reached out. Following an interview with Forbis & Dick in Greensboro, he was hired to handle pre-planning for families that wanted to pre-plan and pre-pay for their funeral services. He eventually took the location manager position at Forbis & Dick – Stokesdale Chapel and was there for 21 years. Itching to make a change, he glanced across job listings on the NC Funeral Directors Association webpage and saw that Walker’s Funeral Home had an opening. As he previously served as a District Director on the NCFDA Board, he had met Mrs. Elizabeth Walker on a mid-winter conference cruise some 15 years ago.
He is excited to be a part of the team at Walker’s and looks forward to getting to know Mebane and the folks that live here.
His children, Andrew and his wife, Julia live in Oak Island and his daughter Allison and her husband, Hunter, live in Bradenton, Florida. Four grandchildren, a Cava-Poo and 2 French Bulldogs round out the family.
Should you have any questions about funeral planning or funeral service in general, please reach out to Todd.
