Obituary of Elena Marie Patterson Emerick

Elena Marie Patterson Emerick Passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her home in Carrboro NC. She was born March 2, 1962 in Greenfield Indiana to parents Ed and Edna Patterson, who now reside in Shelby NC. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons, Eli Emerick and Rowan Emerick, both of Chapel Hill NC and their father, Michael Emerick. Also left to cherish fond memories are her brother Evan Patterson, also of Chapel Hill, and his wife Michelle Patterson, and her sister Erin Crow of Shelby NC; nephews Casey Patterson of Greensboro NC, Brody Patterson of Chapel Hill NC, and Jed Crow of Shelby NC along with nieces Makayla Crow of Raleigh NC, and Mary Lee Crow of Shelby NC. Elena attended Shelby High School where she enjoyed the SHS Marching Band, graduating in 1980, and then the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 with a degree in Chemistry. She enjoyed several careers in both research and the medical field. She most recently worked and loved the clients of Premier Home Healthcare. She volunteered in the local community, giving time and attention to the less fortunate, but her passion and pride was in her precious boys. A private family service will be held to honor Elena's life and spirit. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Chatham PTA Thrift Shop, Chapel Hill NC or the Cleveland County Humane Society, Shelby NC.
