Obituary of Jimmy Hamlin

Caldwell - Mr. James Villines "Jimmy" Hamlin, 75, died Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born in Orange County to the late Frances and Flint Hamlin on the same farm where his death occurred. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Louisburg College. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He worked with his daddy in the family store. Later he was involved with the beginning of the Piedmont Gas Co., in Hillsborough which later became Carolane Propane where he managed for 27 years. He was a member of Little River Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. He served 35 years in the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Dept. which he was instrumental in creating for the Caldwell community. He was very committed to the challenges he faced and helpful to anyone in need. Surviving are his wife, Terry Hamlin, daughter, Nicole Hamlin, son, Carl Hamlin (Tina), brother, Tommy Hamlin (Betty), and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday in Little River Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
