Obituary of Herman Fenton Preston

HERMAN F. PRESTON CHAPEL HILL Herman F. Preston went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2013. Born on August 23, 1929, Herman graduated from the University Of North Carolina Business School in 1953. He was an employee of North Carolina Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 43 years. At the time of his retirement he was the Director of General Services. He was an extremely talented woodworking hobbyist and photographer. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman F. Preston, Sr., his mother, Ila Sprinkle Preston, and brother Thomas Preston. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betsy Preston; children David (Kelly) Sartin, Kathryn Poe and Eddie Sartin; sister-in-law Joy Preston, nephews Tommy Preston and Mark Preston; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Patrick) Wolf, Matthew (Amy) Sartin, Melanie Sartin and Hannah Poe. Interment will be Sept. 29, 2013, 2:30p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, NC. Memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Durham, NC.
