Gregory Leng posted a condolence

Herman was a wonderful family friend during the 1960's-1970's when I was growing up. He worked with my grandfather Edward Leng at BCBS. I remember going to the beach together and Herman would tag along with our entire family. We fly the bat kites together and he took a picture of me when I was about 7 years old that I am putting away in my bible now. It's one of the only photographs I have of me growing up. Beautiful shot with the ocean in the background. It is on my Facebook page. Today I am 54 year's old and I have worked my career as a professional photographer. I am sorry to see that he has passed away. I live in the Asheville area now and have not been home to see family for the past 8 years. I felt like God reminded me rather quickly Herman's last name a few days ago and it surprised me to remember it. He was always smiling and very helpful in any situation. Herman never had limitations and I never heard him complain. My grandparents that he was so close to passed away back in 1992. I am thankful to God that Herman was involved in our family. His passion for photography is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life too. God be with you all, Gregory Hugh Leng

I remember so many great things about Mr. Preston when he was the Director of General Services. He was a great person and he contributed many things to BCBSNC during his career. He gave me the opportunity to grow in my professional career and he was not only my boss but my friend. I will not be able to attend his memorial service due to a previous planned commitment but I will always cherish the fun times we had in our department. It was truly a family at the time I worked for him. May God bless Mrs. Preston and the children and grandchildren and give them strength and comfort. Debby Logan Rose
