I knew Thelma Boyd when I taught at the University of North Carolina (and chaired the Religious Studies Department) and found her consistently gracious and bright and warm. I know how much she cared about Carolina, especially Carolina students. And students--and faculty too--felt the same way about her. We will miss her.

To the family of Thelma Boyd-- My husband, Jaroslav, and I moved to Carol Woods three years ago and became acquainted with Thelma. I had met her over many years at the University Woman's Club and other campus events but did not really know her. We were immediately struck by her graciousness and friendliness. She knew our names and would always greet us warmly. Because of her failing eyesight, she sometimes did not know who we were until we spoke, but her lovely smile and sunny disposition were always there. We and many others at Carol Woods will greatly miss her wonderfully positive attitude. Linda Folda
