Obituary of Robert Fleming Efland

Robert "Bobby" Fleming Efland died in his home on May 17, 2017 in Efland, NC due to complications following Congestive Heart Failure. He was 87 years old. Mr. Efland was born on October 5, 1929 in Efland, NC, the ninth of ten children, to his parents John and Bessie Efland. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Textiles. He married Jane Compton and lovingly raised a family of 3 daughters and 1 son in Efland. Mr. Efland loved family, church and his community. He was a long standing member of the Efland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Efland Fire Department. In his lifetime, Bobby started and owned several local businesses, most notably, the Playland Skating Rink in Mebane NC. Mr. Efland is survived by his daughter, Debra Stout(C.L.) of Swepsonville, NC; his son, Mark Efland(Amy) of Efland, NC; his sons in law Robin Koury and Van Anderson; his brother Frank Efland of Efland, NC., 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife Jane C. Efland and his daughters Marsha E. Koury and Lynn E. Anderson. Mr. Efland will be buried at a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 in the Efland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A reception to follow at the Efland Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the UNC Hospice staff, especially Emily and Sherry, for their loving care to Bobby and kindness to his family throughout his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to UNC Hospice.
