Obituary of Mable Cagle Allison

Mebane, NC - Mabel Cagle Allison passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10 following a brief illness. Mabel is survived by her husband of 67 years, Owen L. Allison, and daughter and son in law Sally and Bill Bland of Mebane. Also surviving are brothers Clyde Cagle and Reid Cagle (Becky) of McLeansville; Branson Cagle (Carlene) of Winston-Salem; many close Cagle cousins; and, Cagle and Allison nieces and nephews. She maintained and valued close friendships throughout her life, particularly her "sisters" and neighbors. Mabel was born in Greensboro, August 2, 1928. She lived in Sanford and Durham, graduating from Bragtown High School, before moving to Hillsborough when she married in 1949. Mabel was a retiree from Western Electric/ATT in Burlington, having worked in accounting and payroll for over 25 years. She was a member of Efland United Methodist Church, organizing many hours of quilting in support of church activities. For many years, Mabel and Owen were known for their "pick your own" blueberry farm in Efland. She enjoyed talking with all who came to the farm. She was an avid reader, active quilter, enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, prepared delicious "fried pies" and coconut cakes, and regularly planned family and friend get togethers. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity/church/organization of your choice. A memorial service to honor Mrs. Allison will be held, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00AM at Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough, 204 N.
