Dear Susan,
I'm one of David's cousins - my mother (Lillian Williams Harris) and his father were brother and sister. I recall meeting you in Chapel Hill in about 1963 when I was a student there. You and David were together then, and I'm glad to see you still are after so many years. When I was growing up, I was fond of all three of those handsome brothers, but seldom got to see them as their father's career had them living in various places. We would see each other only when visiting our grandmother in Kinston at Christmas or in the summer. I loved and admired Uncle Leslie and Aunt Christine, and having married a career military man I learned to truly appreciate how their lives were with Uncle Leslie away so much of the time. (I'm divorced now and returned to my given name.) I know this is a shocking and heartbreaking time for you, and I shall think of you in the coming days and weeks. Chapel Hill is a wonderful place to live and I hope you have many friends there who can help you through.
