Like so many others, Genie and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Dana Kelly. She was truly a remarkable person and understandably the center of my dear friend Mike Kelly’s life. The first time I met Dana, she surprised me only a short way into the conversation by saying, “I have a very serious illness.” After seeing my shocked expression, she said without cracking a smile, “I love horses.” Once recovered, I responded, “I understand and am very, very sorry. I share the same affliction.” I found that Dana and I not only shared a love of horses but also a love of four-legged creatures in general as well as a love of outdoor adventures. Mike has shared with me so many stories of their times of living together in Alaska. Our deepest condolences and well wishes to Mike who is our ongoing connection to Dana’s energy and spirit.
