Dear Flo, Joann and Sandy, Lou will be very missed by all of us here at MSM. Joe and I are not always around but we have so many memories of you and your family. I can't imagine your loss for he was a great and kind man, and he did so much for the animals he cared for. I do hope we see you soon, Flo, so we can express our sadness also. We were shocked as we had just seen you both at dinner. I am sure he is in a better place where he can love his family and all the animals too. He made this world a better place.

Dear Florence, Joany and Sandy, Lou and you, Florence were some of my first neighbors in Hidden Hills. I was 3 and everytime I now pass your white brick home or the Vine Vet. Hospital think of you all...Am so glad that Lou had a long life...and that he was a beloved vet and Tarheel basket-ball fan! ...Was happy to have made a special basket for you with comfort foods. Dr. Vine was my late doberman's (Maggie) veterinarian until he retired. I have the utmost admiration for him. To this day I still speak of the excellent job he did on her ears. What a great loss for the animal kingdom. My condolences to his family.

Dr. Vine treated our family's German Shepherd Dutchess after her back legs were paralyzed in the late 1960s/early 1970s. We brought her to Dr. Vine in Chapel Hill even though we lived in Raleigh as he had been so highly recommended. Dr Vine's kindness, caring, and persistence in helping Dutchess recover the use of her legs was remarkable and heartwarming. Our entire family held him In special regard and our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this difficult time

Dearest Florence, Sandy and Family, You must know how much we are going to miss Lou around here! The building will never be the same again. We are so sorry he had to leave us so quickly. It was only a few days before that he gave us a loving greeting and hug in the Ocean Club, so it's hard to realize that he's gone. Please try to take care of yourselves while up in Chapel Hill, and have a safe trip back, after putting Lou to rest. When you get back here, please do not hesitate to contact Herm and me if there is anything at all we can do for you back at our wonderful Maison's. Our hearts go out to you and yours, with love, Elaine and Herman
