Mr. Ralph Cooper Compton, 85, of Hillsborough, NC, died on Tuesday January 13, 2014, at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill of pulmonary fibrosis. Mr. Compton was born on January 13, 1930 in Orange county NC to the late R. Cooper and Annie Woods Compton. After graduating from Aycock High School in 1949, Mr. Compton obtained a degree in horticulture from NC State, served in the US Army during the Korean conflict, worked as florist in Durham and Hillsborough NC, and was employed as a Social Worker for Orange County Schools.
