Everett Hayes Kennedy, 87, of Hillsborough, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his home. He was born February 19, 1927 in Hillsboro, North Carolina to Grover Cleveland and Minnie Briles Kennedy.
Everett graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1943 and enrolled at North Carolina State University to play football. Shortly thereafter, he entered the Air Force and was called into service as an airplane mechanic, stationed in France, Germany, and Italy during World War II. On March 27, 1946 he married the love of his life, Eva Faw, of Ashe County. Everett spent most of his working career owning and operating Kennedy Realty. He enjoyed traveling, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Schley Grange, Past Commander of the American Legion, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, and served on the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough Savings and Loan for 40 years. As a devout Christian, he was instrumental in organizing three Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship International chapters and Abundant Life Church.
Everett is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eva Faw Kennedy, son, Bob Kennedy (Cindy) of Southern Pines, NC, daughter, Donna Webb (Alan) of Hillsborough, NC; five grandchildren, Nichole Kennedy-Disser, Brian Kennedy, Courtney Fowler, Megan Webb, and Britton Webb; five great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 2:00 pm at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church (5218 Efland-Cedar Grove Road, Cedar Grove, NC 27231) Saturday, February 21st. Officiating the service will be Pastor Karl Grant, Reverend Carson Wiggins, and Keith Crawford, Sr. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. A celebration of life will continue in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CGUMC, Schley Grange, or a charity of your choice.
