Obituary of John Miles Filer

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Filer passed away of a sudden illness at 9:05 p.m. August 19 in the arms of Jane Filer and beside his sister Teresa Filer. He was a behind-the-scenes man and responsible for a large majority of Jane Filer's success. He loved life and was content at his home in the woods and making Jane happy. He was loved by many people that knew Jane through her art, art openings, teaching and workshops. John was born in Vandalia, IL in 1952 on a hot summer day. He was consulting forester and loved trees and nature. He was a quiet man and he was more content with life than most people I've ever met, including myself. It was the simple things that made John happy. John loved history and traveling. Two summers ago he returned to Normandy, France to the site his Father was captured on D-Day in 1944. From this moment on I will be half the person I ever was. But forever grateful for the 37 years we spent together as life partners. Hold the Date: John Filer Memorial Sunday, September 13 starting at 4:00 p.m. The Memorial will be held in Chapel Hill at the Willow Oak Pavilion at 630 Vickers Rd. If you would like to speak at the Memorial you are welcome. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is honored to serve the Filer family. Link: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/josh filer
