Obituary of Vanessa Woodring Johnson

Vanessa Gayle Woodring Johnson passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a native of Orange County. She was the loving mother of four children. She worked at UNC at IACUC, DLAM, and private duty nursing. She loved to go to the beach and casinos. She was a great friend and loved her family unconditionally. If she knew you ten minutes or ten years she wasn't afraid to tell you what she was thinking, and hug you if it hurt your feelings. If she loved and liked you she always had your back. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife and will be missed greatly. She is survived by four children: Ronda Johnson of Mebane, Matt Johnson of Chapel Hill, Wesley Johnson of Chapel Hill, Gene Johnson and wife Melania of Siler City, and one sister Diane Green and husband Roy of Apex. She is also survived by her mother Sylvia Williams of Pittsboro, her stepmom Lyvone Wooering and two grandchildren Corena and Dylan Johnson. She was predeceased by her father, Marshall Woodring. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough with the memorial service 3-4 PM to follow.
