Chapel Hill - Delbert Etuah Mayse, age 84, of Chapel Hill died Wednesday December 9, 2015 at Carolina Point in Durham, NC. Delbert was born March 23, 1931 to Clarence and Lottie Oldham Mayse of Orange County, NC. As a young man, he served in the US Army as a MP, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Delbert retired from American Tobacco Company where he worked as a machine operator.
Surviving are his wife, Lou Branham Mayse of the home; daughter, Hope Tyler of Oakwood, GA; grandchildren, Lance Durham, Lisa Martin (Lance Booth), and Faith Downey; great-grandchild, Brieanna Downey; great-great grandchild, Zachary Downey Camp; two sisters, Margrue Booker of Pittsboro, NC and Doris Carroll of Kernersville, NC. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Devra Mayse Tecumseh.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The graveside service for Mr. Mayse will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
