Our Dear Charlie, ...how You will be missed terribly. Charlie was a true gentlemen. What a true friend he was to all. When we all would meet for a leisure lunch from time to time, he would share stories from back in the 70's. He had a heart of gold, and the sharpest memory of anyone that I knew. I always loved to hear all his stories from past to present. He was an amazing gentleman and friend. I am truly going to miss Charlie and our wonderful lunches with Bill and Dick. Such awesome memories that I will cherish.
Charlie loved his Lord & Savior, and his lovely family, and spoke of them with much pride. Ms. Sue, you and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. What a legacy he has left. We all are going to miss Charlie. My heart still aches for your loss, and personally for my dear friend. He was always there for Everyone with much advice, compassion, and love for his family and friends.
...Until we meet again... Love you, Charlie!

I first met Charlie in 1975 at my first State Football Officials Clinic in Wilson, from that night he always remembered who I was and where I was from. He was a man who always had time to talk and listen to you. He was "Mr. NCHSAA" to the utmost.
Our Savior has called home a great man. With heartfelt sympathy I extend sincere condolences to the entire family.

I was sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. What a great man with a life well-lived and dedicated to young people. In my interactions with Charlie, I always found him to be gracious and kind even when the results of such interaction were not always in my favor. As a teacher/coach, an official, and a high school principal, I had many occasions to talk with Charlie. I never came away from those discussions without an appreciation for the role he played in high school athletics, and how he handled it with dignity and class.
Mrs. Adams, I finally got to meet you in an elevator while attending a DPAC event with my wife. Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be comforted with your memories of this great man.

As a long time basketball referee in NC, I watched Mr. Adams' every move. He made decisions with integrity and always put the student athletes' needs first. He was a role model for ALL leaders, not just in sports.

Good bye Charlie, a great leader of NC high school sports whose warmth will be missed. I enjoyed my frequent visits with Charlie when I was a high school football, basketball, and lacrosse official. He was highly respected by everyone and he left a fine mark on the NCHSAA. John Anderson, Chapel Hill

Dear Adams Family,
I was so sad to hear about Mr. Adams passing from my mom. I remember playing with Scott & Michelle when we were neighbors and Mr. Adams always being so kind. My parents have many stories of the practical jokes he played and memories of the beach trips we took with your family.
My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I met Charlie Adams in 1995 when I joined the staff at the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL). He would always take the time to have a genuine conversation with you. When I was presented with the opportunity to become the Commissioner of the SCHSL, he was a big supporter. Over the years he shared many words of wisdom with me. He is a true friend and mentor that will truly be missed. God bless him and his family.

Mrs. Adams and Family,
We were blessed to have met both you and Mr. Adams through my parents, Bob and Pat, and you both immediately and warmly welcomed us as friends. Mr. Adams always insisted we call him Charlie, but a combination of upbringing and respect made doing so seem out of place. We thank him for the genuine warmth and interest he took in our family and the love he shared with our parents. In deference to his wishes regarding how we should address him, we offer this simple prayer, "God bless you, Charlie, and all your family at this difficult time. We're confident that your faith has you walking with your Maker in his heavenly Kingdom, and with God's mercy and grace, we will, one day, see your warm smile again."
With much love and respect,
Chris, Carrie, Megan, and Michael Kanaby

Sue and family, Ike and I were sad to learn of Charlie's passing. Ike always talked about Charlie and how much he learned from him while at ECC... and that he could never beat him playing horse!!! Guy and Ike talk often and they share memories of their basketball days and Charlie is always in their conversations.
We did not realize Charlie and Ike shared the August 14th birthdays .... Ike always thought of him like a brother.
Peace be with you, Marie and Ike Riddick

I knew Charlie from the time I was a small kid participating in his basketball camps at Cary. He was a great man for high school athletics and a true visionary across the nation for high school sports. He was always gracious and humble and a role model for young and old alike. My very best to all of the family as you remember the wonderful times he gave you as the rest of us do the same.
