Obituary of James Richard Johnson

James "Red" Richard Johnson, 77, passed away on March 16, 2016. He was born in Efland, NC on December 4, 1938 to the late Martha Terrell Johnson and John William Johnson. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his loving wife to whom he was married on February 4, 1961, Faye Sykes Johnson; daughters, Lorrie Ann Morris, Sharon Lynn Toney, Sandra Jane Johnson; brothers, Johnny Thomas Johnson, Paul Wesley Johnson and Wilbert Lee Johnson. James graduated from Aycock High School and began work with Farmers Exchange. He then began working for Sears & Roebuck where he retired with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Eagle Lodge #19 A.F. & A.M. where he was entered in March 25, 1983 and raised to a Master Mason on September 23, 1983. He loved to farm, work in the garden, hunt and spend time outdoors. James believed in being good to his fellow man and living a faithful Christian life and instilled these beliefs in his children. Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Randy Johnson and his wife Sandra of Hillsborough, Jeff Johnson and his wife Lori of Durham; sisters, Carolyn J. Glasgow and husband Ray of Efland, Peggy J. Cates and husband Johnny of Efland; brothers, Don Johnson and wife Mable of Efland, Bill Johnson and wife Jessie of Gibsonville; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be 2 PM Saturday March 19 at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery with Pastor Ken Stanley officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be provided by Eagle Lodge #19 A.F. & A.M. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM at Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough. The family will receive visitors during other times at Randy's home, 2419 Walker Rd. Hillsborough.
