Dear Shirley, Carol and I send out thoughts, prayers and sympathy at this difficult time. As you know, John and I were graduate students together in Warren Hall, and have been friends since 1958. Then, John and I walked from Mitchell Street to Warren Hall every morning -- wind, rain, snow and sun -- for over 25 years. During that time, we discussed everything from Yankee baseball to Cornell politics, and lots of other varied topics. I have a million memories about our wonderful ideas to improve Cornell, the Ag Ec Department, admission policies, and a selection of administrators. We were sure that we could create the perfect university. We haven't been close over the past years, but my thoughts frequently went to you and John, and my memories were always happy and full of humor. Thanks for sharing John with me. As I think back on 410 Thurston Ave at Cornell University yes, the 70's, 80's and 90's) and remember dear John Spencer and his always smiling face and truly friendly greeting - as I was an Athletic Dept. Liaison for Central Admissions. So coming into Admissions ofc from 'outside' he was an icon for the Central Admissions Dept. for me. I will always cherish good memories of dear John Spencer. May he rest in peace.
