I met Dean when I was 13 years of age back in Park Ridge, Illinois. Our home was not far from the Medical Research Labratories office on Toughy Avenue. Too bad the clock can't be reset. Those were tough times. The time does fly by!

Jan, Chessie, and Milani family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am honored and blessed to have known Mr. Dean Milani. He was truly a kind, fun loving, generous man, and I will miss him. My condolences.
First meeting Dean on the range at the Kenosha Country Club, I immediately knew this man had a brilliant mind, a contagiously witty personality, and a strong passion for the game of golf. We spent many hours and days playing golf in Kenosha and in NC, working on our golf swings at the range, talking strategy and the mechanics of the swing at the course and in front of the computer, as well as discussing all aspects of life. I learned a great deal from this kind man, and will never forget his generosity and assistance in helping me reach my career goals. Inviting me to stay in his home in NC while I traveled to play tournaments, and seeing him at a few of those events means the world to me. I'm forever grateful for Dean and his family for opening their home to me during those summer weeks, and will never forget the memories at Old Chatam and castle near Jordan Lake. I will miss Dean greatly, and I wish his family my most sincere condolences.

This weekend I lost my person. He was my boss, mentor, lunch date, business partner, office-mate, confidant, and most of all, my friend - best friend. We shared an office in his home and spoke every day. We were a team. I have an enormous gap in my heart right now. He was an innovative risk-taker and gave people the confidence to accomplish anything. His gambles were nerve-racking but he was not afraid to fail. I gained a lifetime of knowledge in the 8 years I was fortunate enough to know Dean. He was casual and trusting then out of nowhere hit you with precision to get the job done. I watched with intrigue. I never turned down a challenge he presented because I knew he believed in me. Though, he said I rarely did any work, just ate food from the pantry and looked busy. Then he handed over his business (in a box) with no instruction. We never talked about that again. I figured it out just has he knew I would. He gave me the tools and freedom to grow and make decisions, then, without even realizing, I was doing it on my own. He trusted me. I have become so many things because of Dean. He was so frustrating but magnetic. He embarrassed me more times in public than I could begin to list. His words could both silence and brighten a room in one conversation. You will never forget him. He made new friends most every day of his life. He has people all over the country - and it was true, he always knew a guy who could do anything we needed. He was generous and thoughtful and there when you needed him - always. You could count on him. He taught me so well, passed the torch, and knew with confidence that I could figure it out and be successful. It is not that I can't do it without him, it is that I really don't want to. I miss him so terribly.

I met Dean just over a year ago. Even though I didn't know him that long his impact on my life was big. Being a person who has battled depression most my life, I couldn't comprehend how Dean had such a love for life. It was his love for life that helped me survive another year. His smile, friendship, lectures, and advice will greatly be missed.

My name is John Inman. Most of you don't know me since I live in Miami, Fl. I had the pleasure of meeting Dean in 2013 while discussing a deal in Miami Beach with Noel M. Dean and I grew a strong friendship and business partnership. He was my "entrepreneur" mentor. Words can't describe what kind of impact he had on my life and my families life. We would talk about life, golf, business and family. I learned a tremendous amount from Dean. I am very saddened to hear about his passing. I had the opportunity to speak to him a over a week ago. He was watching Carlitos Way. I told him I loved him and hope he gets better soon. I never had the opportunity to meet Deans family but hope to do so in the future. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Dear Jan and family,
My husband and I were so sad to hear of Dean's passing. Even though we've been neighbors for years, we only recently got to know him with our many sit down conversations with him at the Bean and Barrel, and were quickly taken in by his spirit. He seemed to live life like so many of us only dream to. Other than remembering the fullness of his life, I will most remember his beautiful sense of humor. That smile always seemed to belie a mischief that was about to reveal itself. We're so sincerely sorry for your loss of such a remarkable man.

...I consider Dean being my role model. Moving to US at he age of 19 years old without any work experience especially in a manufacturing environment, I met Dean at MRL in summer of 1995 when I went for an interview to work for MRL in production. I parked in my car his parking spot and of course when I finished the interview his Bentley was blocking me so I couldn't leave. That was a sign that I was going to work with Dean for many years to come. Dean showed me what dedication means. He was always at work, in the machine shop, on the production floor putting a defibrillator together or being in everyone's "Business" telling everyone how to do their job. MRL was his "baby" and he was watching that baby's every move to ensure success. Every minute I spent with Dean, was like a lesson to me and I was like a sponge, learning from him everything I could. Later in life I started my own manufacturing business and I guess I could say Dean is the reason I did it. Occasionally I would call him asking for some advise, or he would call to check up on how the business is doing. Last time I met with Dean was last summer when he came to Chicago visited my shop and we went for lunch to one of his favorite places to eat, the Walker Brothers Pancake house in Lincolnshire, where he had his favorite pancake, of course, The Dutch Bay. Sorry Jan, he was craving that soo much, probably not as good in NC :)
Dean, your work benches are still with me and still in perfect working condition, They are strong like the memory of you that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for the legacy you are leaving us with and for being an inspiration for me personally and for many others I am certain of it. In our hearts, you will never die.
