Obituary of Mary Grace Bruno

Mary Grace Bruno of Chapel Hill died on May 26th. She was a resident of The Cedars of Chapel Hill since 2004 and before that resided in Fearrington Village in Pittsboro. Mary Grace was born on July 17, 1921 in Althimer, Arkansas. She is a first generation American of Italian descent. Her parents, Gasper and Lisa Angeletti came to the United States at the turn of the twentieth century from the Ancona area of Italy. Mary Grace, one of nine children, grew up on a large cotton farm in Crawfordsville, Arkansas.
Mary Grace spent five years between 1941 and 1946 as an American Airlines stewardess flying all over the United States in a small 21 seat airplane. In 1946 she met Nicholas J. Bruno, a Captain in the Army, in El Paso, Texas. Nick was also a first generation American of Italian descent who grew up in New York City. They were married at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas on November 3, 1946.
Mary Grace was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2004 and her grandson Nick in 2009. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Terry (Bill), son Bedford Bruno (Mary), grandchildren Kenneth Terry, Marcus Terry, Patrick Bruno, and Molly Bruno. She is also survived by her twin brothers, John Angeletti and Frank Angeletti of West Memphis, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be private and she will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Nicholas J. Bruno, Colonel, U.S. Army.
