Obituary of Virginia Louise Dabbs
Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia Louise Dabbs passed away peacefully June 18 with husband Philip Dabbs and family by her side. In her final days she showed us all a special love that gives our lives meaning and purpose. Thank you Virginia.
The daughter of Curl and Elmer Fleming, she was the middle of three very pretty sisters, Carol and Genelle. Although her older brother, Odell, had the prettiest blue eyes, Ginny's were a close match with the brighter spark. Known for her striking good looks and spirited mischief she had a love for plants and critters and a gift for making biscuits. Most of all she loved her family.
Born in Hackleburg, Alabama, January 30, 1932, she moved to Georgia and North Carolina where she raised her children, and then to Florida, finally settling with Phil in a cabin overlooking beautiful pastures in Cedar Grove where they wrote a love story for the ages. We should all be that lucky.
She is survived by her husband Phillip Dabbs and his sister Naomi Wilson; her children, Judith Bryan and husband Andrew of Chapel Hill, their two children Colette and Scott and grandchildren Ellery and Merritt; Robert Pratt, his children David, Briana, and Elliott and grandchildren Henry and Rainey; Charlene Pratt and son Chris and grandchildren Camren and Lillian; Mike Watson; Randy Dabbs and wife Ruthie, and Sammy Dabbs and wife Cathy and daughter, Samantha; her brother Odell Fleming and wife Hazel of Tyrone, Georgia; her sister Carol Janney of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews; and special friend Levi Jack Russell.
Her parents, her sister Ginelle Dugger and grandson Joshua Love, predecease her.
A funeral and memorial service will be at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Tuesday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service and reception on the grounds.
Arrangements are by Walkers Funeral Services of Hillsborough.
