Obituary of Frances Moschler Heard

Chapel Hill — Frances Moschler Heard, 66, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 44 years, Edward Blankenship Heard; three children Kristin, Kimberley, and William, as well as their respective spouses Evander, Christopher, and Nicole. She also leaves behind her brother, William Moschler Jr, and his family; her sister-in-law Lynn "Metta" Green and her family; and her three granddogs and two grandcats. Born and raised in Blacksburg, Virginia, Fran was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Betty) Moschler. She graduated from Virginia Tech and lived in Virginia and North Carolina, moving to Chapel Hill in 1995. Fran will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her infectious laugh, and her love of reading. Visitation will occur from 11am to 12pm on Saturday, June 25 at Walker's Funeral Home at 120 West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. A memorial service will be held immediately after beginning at 12pm at the same facility. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Frances Heard Student Financial Aid Fund for the Hill Center in Durham, North Carolina.
