I knew Lucinda first when we were both at Randolph-Macon. Then we continued our friendship at Chapel Hill. She was a truly wonderful person - so charming and so devoted to her friends. I lived most of my married life in New York and Chicago so our visits were infrequent. I do remember a time when I was in Chapel Hill and saw her garden on Gimgool. It was exquisite just like Lucinda. Her house was the epitome of beauty and good taste. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Mos sincerely, Libby Rahe, Lake Forest, IL

Dearest Holderness family, What a precious life invested 100% in the happiness and joy of others. I believe that is a trait that was inherited from Lucinda's wonderful mother and father and is shared by all the members of your family that I have been privileged to know over the years. May our Father in heaven richly bless you all and fill that empty space with the precious memories and acts of love and kindness that are truly eternal.
Your friends through the years, from Hanoi, Vietnam, Rad Kivette

We here in Kenya wish to pass our most sincere condolences to the family of Mama Lucinder for the lose of their dear and loving Mom. We will always cherish the immense love she showed us during our first visit with her in Chapel Hill in 2008/9. In Africa we say "a mango never falls far away from its parent tree". Indeed the love and friendship my family has enjoyed over the years with especially Sandra and her family was sprout from Mama Lucinder. May our Good Lord comfort you all the Wilcox family as you reconcile this lose.
Love and Blessings from your friends in Mt. Kenya!
Onyango, Chelsea, Christine and Shikuku

My condolences to the family of Lucinda Holderness. I remember her kindness when my husband Don died in 1980, The azalea that she and Ben sent still survives, not as glorious as it has been, at the address of our home. I did not know her well.
i wish comfort to her family. Your loss is her gain of a new body that never grows old, is never subject to pain. Her goodness lives on in you and her spirit is part of you and your endeavors that she foster in you when she lived. God bless each of you.
Sincerely,
Sybil Austin Skakle
