From 1991 to 1997 I cooperated with Professor Behrman, who had invited me to serve as country director for Poland of the MBA Enterprise Corps. Along with our staffs in Chapel Hill and in Cracow we established a wonderful "bridge", which has substantially contributed to getting American and Polish business communities, and also societies at large, closer to each other. Very soon I found in Jack not only an excellent manager, but also a man of vision, a born leader and a true guru-kind of person, from whom one could learn a lot. Our cooperation swiftly developed into true friendship, which lasted till last days of Jack's life. Both personally and as a Pole I feel indebted to Jack, and I deem his death a heavy loss. Jack was one of the first faculty members at what is now the Kenan-Flagler Business School to take me under his wing when I was a new faculty in 1979-1980. He eventually asked me to join him in co-teaching a course to the MBAs on the "Mind-Body Dichotomy." Not the type of course we could likely offer today, but that tells you much about the breadth of Jack' intellect and interests. He was a truly amazing individual, and my family and I will keep his family in our prayers. Dick and Jill Blackburn
