Barbara was very welcoming to me as John’s first wife. I named her only grand daughter after her. Barbara’s middle name was Emilyne. Thus, John and I named our daughter Emily, as a tribute to her. Unfortunately, Emily was not notified of Barbara’s death and we sadly missed paying our respects. Emily speaks often of her memories of making arrangements and going to the farmer’s market with Barbara. She is missed. Patricia Pennington Jones

Barbara was my heroine! I wrote a paper on Barbara in 3rd or 4th grade because I admired her so much! She and JD were the quintessential couple of the Chapel Hill village! She will always be remembered fondly by all who knew her!
