Obituary of Samuel Jesse Nichols

Mr. Samuel Jesse Nichols went to heaven on October 3, 2016. Sammy grew up on Arrowhead Farm, and loved every minute of it. He was truly an outdoorsmen and relished life on the farm. Sammy attended Appalachian State and the mountains became his second love. Sammy was also a very talented baseball player. He was a pitcher and threw a mean knuckleball. Sammy pitched several no hitters in high school and played baseball for Appalachian State. Sammy was an avid deer and bird hunter as well. His bird dogs were another great passion of his. Sammy had three wonderful daughters, Jennifer, Jessica and Jocelyn, whom he loved and cherished with all his heart. Sammy is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Jennifer, Jessica and Jocelyn Nichols; his parents, Robert B. and Margaret Nichols; his sister, Diane Russell and her husband Hardy; and a nephew and niece. Sammy is also survived by many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. Sammy's memorial graveside service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2 pm at Cedar Grove Methodist Church, 5218 Efland-Cedar Grove Road, Cedar Grove NC.
