My fondest memories of Katherine are her generous smile, contagious laugh and willingness to put others first. Her caring nature came through in her working relationships with both patients and co-workers. After she retired, my husband and I would catch a glimpse of her and Eric at the Durham Bulls games (oh yes, we'd hear that laugh as well). My last direct encounter with her was when we shared our thoughts on a book I'd recommended. Laughs from that, too. Happy Memories.

Katherine was a joy to work with. She made the workplace fun. What a laugh!! Thank you for all the birthday cards you sent. Even after we left the practice, I continued to receive them for years! I worked with Katherine at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on Duke Street from when I was hired in March 2000 until her retirement in July. During that brief time I discovered what a unique individual she was. She always had a friendly smile and a good word toward everyone. I especially appreciated how she made me feel welcome in a mostly female office environment. I will always remember her. Jerry Clem

Its near impossible to have a memory of Katherine that doesn't include Eric. The special bond and relationship shared between the two was very sweet to those who were lucky enough to experience it. While they always appeared as one, their personalities were in sharp contrast to one another. Eric with his calm and deliberate demeanor always seemed in direct opposition to Katherine's trademark "out-loudness". Eric, So sorry to hear of Katherine's passing. I didn't know her well but saw her occasionally when she was a patient. I'll always remember when you were here with her, how you always had a look of love and admiration towards her and how special that was. She was always very sweet and appreciative of others. I worked with Katherine at Dr Glenn Lazebys' Oral Surgery Practice. We would see each other occasionally while we were out and about. I know she loved each of you very deeply and was very proud of her children. Love in Christ.

I was close with her when we were in school. I double dated wth Eric and Katherine many times. I remember when Katrina was born. I was working at Duke Hospital. She had the measles. Over the years we would run into each other. But these last years we had not been in touch much. I last met her at one of our classmate luncheons. Later we all were made aware of her health problems. So sorry for your loss, prayers for all of you. I do have greate memories of her and her mom and dad and younger brother, Wayne. Sorry that we loss touch over our life's journey.

Sending continued prayers of comfort to you Eric, Trina & David and those precious grandchildren. We were 'sisters' by choice through our very special friendship over all these years. Katherine's joining classmate ladies for Oct lunch was great....everybody gave her hugs and words of encouragement knowing she and you put forth a huge effort to make that possible.
