Grew up beside Kent, even though I was ten years younger he didn't mind hanging out and playing catch, etc... Gave me my first taste of chewing tobacco, got sick as a dog. Lost touch as so often happens. He will be missed by many. Dale Austin

Kent and I were always good friends growing up close to each other. I will always remember the many rounds of golf we played at Occoneechee. He was a great teammate when we were on the basketball team . When we went to the Duke basketball clinic we roomed together and had a great time. My sympathy is with his family. Kent will be missed. I met Kent in 1963 and we immediately became friends at a ripe old age of 10. Kent was a gifted athlete and we played so hard against each other . A Dookie and I a Tarheel. We rarely agreed on much and competed with each other as if for the greatest prize. We fought we laughed and we cried together. Kent you are missed by all your friends of which there are many and I am grateful to be called one of them. May you rest in peace in our lords arms.
