Obituary of Virginia Dare Dodson Davis

Virginia Dare Dodson Davis, passed away on February 6, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Chapel Hill, NC. She was born in Orange County on September 20, 1930 to the late Hiram Boyd Dodson, Sr. and Mary Williams Dodson. Virginia was a native of Orange County and graduated from Hillsborough High. After her children were old enough to go to school, Virginia worked at several places including Woods 5&10 and she retired from Belks Department Store in 1995. She enjoyed canning and freezing produce that she raised in her garden. She was a lifelong member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by her two sons, Tony Davis of Hillsborough, Jimmy Davis and (Lisa Graff) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two sisters, Shirley Davidson and her husband Edward L. Davison of Hillsborough, Peggy D. Ritch of Hillsborough; two brothers, Harold Dodson and his wife Marie of Graham, H.B. Dodson, Jr. of Hillsborough; one granddaughter Tina Davis of Efland; one step grandson Libre M. Brousseau of Asheville and three great grandchildren; Victoria, Shane and Devin Keeter. Along with her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Charlie B. Davis; one sister, Gladys Davis of Mocksville, NC; and two brothers, Edward Dodson and Larry Dodson. A funeral service officiated by Pastor David Hailey will be held at 2:30PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Cane Creek Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 1:00PM at the church followed by interment in the church cemetery.
