Our heartfelt condolences pour out to the entire Wolf family--Mary Ann, his wonderful children, and adoring grand children. We loved and respected John Wolf, or as I sometime would call him--Sergeant Wolf. Our feelings emerged not because he was wealthy or powerful, but because he represented the epitome of character and patriotism. Few if any could even approach the depths of his love of country and none could surpass it. Like so many of his generation, he served the obligatory tour of duty in the US Army, but remained in the service out of a strong sense of commitment to the defense of America and his fellow soldiers. He volunteered for assignments and missions, others would shirk and fight to avoid--even at the risk of his own life. This is the character of John Wolf and it inspired many of his children to follow his military career path. In a sense he became the first in a line of American patriots giving back to the country.
The United States has lost a great patriot and a very gentle, kind man. Now it is for us, the living, to honor the memory of his service and sacrifice to this nation. God bless our patriot John Wolf. May he rest in peace and dwell in the house of the Lord forever!

Dear Marianne and Family,
I am so sad to learn of Mr. Wolf's passing. It was an honor to work with him at Orange High--his wisdom and calm manner and humor were bedrocks for us on staff. I especially appreciate his kind and supportive tolerance of my work with son John and friends in my English classroom. Sending John and you and all your family my sympathies.
Very sincerely,
Cathy Bennington Jenrette
