Obituary of Coleen Parker Barbour

Humble, generous, and one of God's most devoted and faithful servants, Coleen Parker Barbour, age 80, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2017 after a courageous journey with cancer. She was born on February 2, 1937 in Orange County and was the daughter of the late Ira Lee Parker, Sr. and Ruby Combs Parker. Mrs. Barbour was educated in Orange County schools and was retired from Sears. She will be remembered with love and admiration by her family, many friends, and colleagues. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barbour was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Harvey Barbour, a beloved son, Johnny Dean Wall, grandson Wayne Stephenson, sisters, Lola Parker and Doris Walker. Mrs. Barbour is survived by sons, Ronnie Stephen Wall and wife Sherry of Cedar Grove; Robert Larry Barbour of Greenville; Richard Barry Barbour and wife Kathy of Efland; Howard Milton Barbour and wife Brenda of Durham; daughter, June Barbour Johnson and husband Rev. Jerry Johnson of Burllington; her grandchildren, Tiffany Bodenheimer and husband Joe; Erin Wall; Richie Barbour and wife Carrie; Brad Barbour, Paul Stephenson; her great grandchildren, Maddox Bodenheimer, Lawson Barbour, Dane Barbour, Blake Barbour, Lily Barbour, Hudson Barbour; sisters, Mary Dean, Linda Taylor and husband Bob, brother, Lee Parker and wife Kay, brother-in-law, Winfred Walker, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M.-1 P.M. on Wednesday in First Pentecostal Church. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. at the church, 2008 Carver Street, Durham, with the Rev. Johnny Godair officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham. A special thanks to her caregiver, Jennsy Gomez. +Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing but life everlasting. Amen+
