My prayers are with Caroline and her family. Caroline and I did neurology residency together at the University of Virginia from 1995-1998, followed by fellowships together at Mayo Clinic. She was a dear friend of mine and my wife, Bonnie. We spent much time together during residency and fellowships, both at work and outside of work, as close friends. We stayed in frequent touch over the years and our friendship deepened. My fondest memories of Caroline are mostly from the many in-depth conversations we had over the years, about our lives, families, friends, backgrounds, aspirations and even geeky topics like neurology; I would occasionally even let her bore me about autonomic neuropathy and other dysautonomias, topics she inexplicably always found fascinating. Like Caroline, I have also battled cancer these past few years. We shared our "war stories" from our battles many times, and she was extremely supportive and helpful, especially during my toughest times. She prayed for me and I prayed for her. She made the world a better place and will be missed by many, including me, my wife Bonnie and our 3 kids. Love you, Caroline.
