Obituary of Kevin Brian Dillard

Please share a memory of Kevin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kevin Brian Dillard, known as Brian, born January 31, 1977, passed away on April 4, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Erin, and their three children, Austin, Tucker, and Kinsleigh. An electrician by trade, he worked for the City of Durham as an electrical inspector at the time of his passing, after having been an electrician for private companies for over 20 years.

He was a lover of music, traveling, fishing, boating, mountain views, sports, concerts, but mostly his family. He was always up for and enjoyed trying new things. His greatest joy was his family and seeing his children grow and experience life and sharing his interests with them. He enjoyed going to their games, concerts, robotics competitions, band competitions and dance recitals. He loved to cheer them on in all that they tried and accomplished-he was often the loudest person there. He was full of practical jokes and dad jokes, passing that humor on to his kids.

He enjoyed the peace that nature brought and the knowledge that learning and talking about history gave. He enjoyed opportunities to give back, going on Appalachian Service Project, donating to the Durham Rescue Mission and Duke Children’s, buying meals for random homeless people in need and recently began looking for places close to home to give his time and talents. He was modest and humble when it came to fixing things, of which came naturally to him. He considered the past 7 years his bonus life after the removal of a tumor, and the family is thankful to Duke for giving them this extra time with him.

In addition to his wife and children, he leaves behind 3 brothers and a sister, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother.

A celebration of life will be held at Walnut Grove UMC in Hurdle Mills, NC on Sunday, April 14 at 3pm. A visitation with family will be 1 hour prior at the church.
