I remember Owen as someone who was always kind and friendly, and who was always interested in the world around him. When Owen came to Singapore to visit, we had coffee together and visited Haw Par Villa. I’ll always remember him as someone who was excited to see the world.

I knew Owen only a short time. We were in a creative writing course together. His writing was beautiful, poignant, and so truthful. I loved reading his stories and learning from his perspective. He was truly talented.

Words can not express the heart ache and loss of Owen. The most memorable times spent with Owen was at Elk Lake, PA, and Disney trip many years ago. Owen was so excited planning out all the details researching Epcot’s different countries/cultures. I think Owen got to all of the countries in one day!
The Summers at Elk Lake PA was so special, always outside swimming keeping busy with crafts and games. Owen’s cousins Courtney and Roger loved hanging out being goofy with each other as you can see in the pictures. The laughter was contagious! It’s been many years since we were all together but those memories will never go away. You will always be in our hearts! We all love you, til we meet again in heaven. Your cousins, Trudeau Family

We have so many wonderful memories of Owen. Remembering his first Christmas as the family sat for hours as Carolyn and Rich opened his presents. Lazy days at our house in Greensboro swimming in the pool with our dogs. Barbecues. Visiting us at our home when we retired
near Holden Beach. Owen would bring friends and they would enjoy going to the beach for sun and surf. Owen
loved the water. His special time with his mom when they would go to Haley’s ice cream place and sit and
talk while looking at the ocean.
We haven’t seen much of Owen these past few years as he was very busy with college, travel and work but we will always remember his kindness and sweetness.
Rest In Peace Owen. God has accepted you and will
comfort you. Love always, Aunt Marlene and Uncle Russ in spirit.

Owen had a tremendous intellect and was forging new approaches for researching geographical engagements with religion. Brave and brilliant, honest and humane - what a combination of characteristics in a single person. I'm so grateful for my time with him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I will miss him. Betsy Olson (Owen's Professor, UNC Chapel Hill)

My son, I cannot believe you are gone still, I loved you more than myself and wished I could have done more. You made me smile everyday with your courage, and love for what you believed in. You will never not be in my heart, and my promise to you that I will do all I can to keep your memory alive in everyone you knew
. I miss you so much it hurts,
Your Dad
