When I was newly married in NYC in the 80’s with a 3 year old and a newborn and a job writing scripts for As The World Turns that was like 100 hours a week, my husband Frank and I needed a young, fun but responsible nanny we could trust to watch the girls when we couldn’t. It wasn't long before Abby felt like family. The girls couldn't have loved her more. I’ll never forget the day Abby was pushing my fair blue eyed daughter Chloe in her stroller and passerbys would stop to make a fuss (pre-Covid) assuming Abby was her mom, not me, the olive skinned woman with black hair and brown eyes. Proof recessive genes can skip a generation. Then when I got asked to move to Ct for work I readily agreed. And we did it January 1990. With help from Abby. I will never forget her patience - not just with Madeline and her younger sister Chloe, but with me. Poor Abby. After we moved she got stuck with the awful task of teaching me to drive at age 37! My husband tried once and gave up. Not Abby. Stuck with it. And at some point we realized she’d become an invaluable part of the family and lucky us, it coincided with Abby wanting to take a gap year after graduation to figure out whats next. And that was a beautiful wedding to Ed we were lucky enough to attend. Chloe, still a cute blob of a baby and Madeline so beautiful in her tasteful flower girl dress. Remember after Madeline dancing on Ed’s shoes and laughing at how tall he was. We’ll always miss Abby, who helped raised our girls before she raised her own. And Ed, Marina & Eve always have a second family in Ct. Our hearts and prayers go out to you.
