Dear Family,
I remember Ray to be helpful and kind to everyone. So sorry to hear of his early passing.
Linda, my mother Nancy spoke of you fondly, telling me somethings that you two joked about. Had some good times w you at NCMH. Thinking of you, Bobby and family during this dificult time.
Big hug.

Ray was one of the most unselfish people I ever knew. He was always giving time to the church and his beloved SORS and never asked for anything back. He was always offering useful information to the youth and leading them in ways to serve the lord. There will not be another Mr. Ray.

Ray was one of those "one of a kind" people that we have the pleasure to meet in life. In his 40 years on or around an ambulance it is not what he did on the ambulance that influenced and impressed you the most, His actions off the ambulance is what impressed you. It wasn't the way he would expertly control bleeding, handle a psych patient or bend metal on a wrecked car. It was the fact that when it was all over and everyone was exhausted he would stop and change someone's flat tire on the way back to the station. He loved many parts of his life and it showed every time you saw him. His true legacy in the world of medicine and emergency management is not measurable. The 60 years he spent here were put to good use.

To all of Ray's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Ray was a true blessing to so many and will be greatly missed. My family and the deFriess family were friends during the "early years" at Carrboro UMC and although we have been away from the area for a long time, I still have very fond memories of the entire family. May God bless each of you and may your treasured memories see you through the difficult days.

The news of Ray's passing was certainly hard news to hear. He was one of those people in the community we expect will always be there, because he always has been. A smile, a laugh and a kind word were his trademarks and his passion was simply to serve his fellow man. He wasn't worried about what he had, he was worried about what he could give and that's why what he leaves behind is so important.

I was saddened today when Scott G. called me with the news of Rays passing. Ray and I worked together for several years in the early days of my x-ray service career with X-Ray Sales and Service, Siemens and Cardinal X-Ray Corp.. He and I had lost regular touch over the past 20 or so years, but our paths would cross now and again. On those occasions we would reminisce and share familiar stories. I will always remember Rays one of a kind smile and that trademark sparkle in his eyes.
Pam, I would like to extend my condolences to you and the family and remind you that Ray is once again whole, pain free and fixing everything inside the Pearly Gates!!
