Obituary of Eva Kennedy

Please share a memory of Eva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eva Faw Kennedy, 97, of Hillsborough went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in her home surrounded by family. She was born June 6, 1923, in Ashe County, to Robert Avery and Jean Turner Faw.

Eva graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1940 and attended Woman’s College in Greensboro. On March 27, 1946, she married the love of her life, Everett Kennedy, of Hillsborough.

Eva fulfilled her life’s dream of being a bookkeeper at Carr’s Supermarket, Piedmont Packing Company, C.H. Hines Building Company, and Kennedy Realty. She enjoyed traveling, watching sports (especially the Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tar Heels), cooking and baking. She was best known for her homemade sourdough bread, Christmas pickles, and delicious cabbage. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends. Her beautiful smile would light up a room and she had an infectious laugh. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Schley Grange. She was also a life-long member of the Schley American Legion Auxiliary and Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

Eva is survived by her son, Bob Kennedy (Cindy) of Southern Pines, daughter, Donna Webb (Alan) of Hillsborough; five grandchildren: Nichole Kennedy-Disser, Brian Kennedy, Courtney Fowler, Megan Webb, and Britton Webb; six great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, a special niece, Jean Reeves, and many other nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Funeral service for Eva will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Social distancing and masks will be required. Friends or family wishing to pay their respects privately will be able to do so on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough or an hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Schley Grange, or a ministry or charity of your choice.
