Walter Frank Strucinski, 86, of Broadway, NC, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill, NC. He was born June 30, 1934 in New York City to Michael and Czeslawa Strucinski.
Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Strucinski; two daughters, Ann Weingartz and husband Brian, Lynn Streeter and husband Todd; three granddaughters, Ashley Weingartz, Savannah Streeter, Reagan Streeter; nephew Ronald Sypniewski and wife, Debbie.
In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his sister Florence and brother-in-law Bobby Sypniewski.
Walter Graduated from Owendale High School in Michigan. He attended the Coyne Electrical Institute in Chicago and earned a degree as an Electrical-Electronics Technician. He established and operated a business for many years in Lapeer, Michigan repairing and rewinding electric motors. He then moved to Broadway, North Carolina and began working for the City of Sanford where he maintained huge pumps and electric motors at the wastewater treatment plant.
Walter, as a craftsman in woodworking, touched many people’s lives. Bird feeders, signs and three-dimensional names were some of the many wooden items that he constructed and sold. He designed and built the tall lighthouse with the revolving light and the lighthouses which flank the driveway entrance to the Bay Breeze Seafood Restaurant. He was an ardent hunter of ducks, Canadian geese, and deer. His largest trophy was a huge black bear.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 3:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Carthage Street, Sanford, NC 27330. (Masks will be required).
