Obituary of Myrtle Carden Kiger

HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Myrtle Carden Kiger, 88. died Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Myrtle lived in Orange County all her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her laugh and sense of humor will be missed by all. She loved going to softball and basketball games, visiting friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Myrtle was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church/St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Her last years were spent at Brookshire Nursing Center where she received wonderful and loving care. Myrtle's family wishes to express their love and appreciation to all the staff at Brookshire for taking such good care of their Mama for the past 17 years. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Duke Hospice or St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Hillsborough, NC. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Kiger Michael and husband Steve, her son, David Kiger and wife Donna, her sister, Annie Mae Carden McBroom, three grandchildren: Julie Michael Hornberger and husband John, Bradley Michael, and Sarah Kiger, and two great grandchildren: John Michael Hornberger and Brady Hornberger. She was predeceased by her husband Wiley Kiger, sister, Luna C. Woods, brother, Billy Carden, mother, Ella Walker Carden, and father, Arthur David Carden. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church (210 St. Mary's Rd, Hillsborough) by Rev. Brooks Graebner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
