Obituary of Edgar E. Robertson

Please share a memory of Edgar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mr. Edgar “Ed” Robertson, 79 of Durham, NC died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

Ed was born June 21, 1941 in Jenners, PA one of 10 children, and the youngest son, of the late Harry W., Sr. and Lavinia C. (Farling) Robertson

Ed resided in Durham, NC for the past 26 years after previously living in Stuart, FL and Warren, PA. He (happily) retired from his profession of estate planning after working with several well-known financial institutions.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army where he served as a military police officer with the 1st Cavalry Division in Viet Nam and various other posts. He was also a proud member of the Somerset (PA) Masonic Lodge.

Ed was an avid golfer and played in many leagues over the years. He currently enjoyed weekly golf outings with a wonderful group of friends who played courses throughout central North Carolina.  He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Beverly and other family and friends, working in his yard, reading, completing crossword and Sudoku puzzles and eating Beverly’s cooking!

Ed is survived by his adored wife of 34 years, Beverly (Courtney) and his children, Elizabeth Walters of Jupiter, FL; Bryan (Jen) Robertson of Newville PA; Greg (Susan) Robertson of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Lori (Ken) McCarthy of Lake Park, FL; Allen (Jarumi) Sliter of Fayetteville, NC; and Erin (Aaron) Baumgardner of Bend, OR. He is also survived by his grandchildren who were the pride of his life - Brandon, Brittni, Tyler, Ayden, Justus, Samantha, Andrew, and Adriel.

Ed was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

He  especially enjoyed the love and companionship of his sisters Margaret Coulter and Delores Shaffer of Jennerstown, PA, Carol Poltrack (Joe) of Johnstown, PA and Lyn Bock (Larry) of Sarver, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harry Jr., Jim, Harold, Bob and sister Lee (Trice).

Beverly honored Ed’s final wish of giving the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation.

A private remembrance and celebration of Ed’s life, for family and invited friends, will be held at a later date. To honor Ed’s life, please celebrate him by making sure your partner and family know how much you love them, buying a friend a flower, filling out an organ donation card, or doing a good deed for no particular reason. If you would like to make a contribution in Ed’s memory, please donate to the charity of your choice or to one of Ed’s favorite charities, Wounded Warriors Family Support and Susan G. Komen.

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. … I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.”  Jeremiah 29: 11-14
