Obituary of Jane Huffman

Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jane Adaire Huffman (68), beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed from this life on January 15, 2021. Jane was a native of Drexel N.C. and attended school there, where she was a proud member of the marching band. As an adult, she worked over 30 years as a state employee at Broughton Hospital. For most of her life, Jane was an active member of Drexel First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and led Senior Adult music each Sunday. After the death of her parents, Frank and Clara “Polly” Watts Huffman, Jane moved to the Triangle area of North Carolina to be near her sister. Jane was born with developmental disabilities but those did not keep her from enjoying life or bringing joy to others. She loved listening to music and snuggling babies. She loved new shoes and delicious food. Most of all, she loved her family and friends deeply. Small kindnesses brought Jane great happiness and she was content with simple pleasures. Even when it wasn’t easy, Jane kept on loving people and so many loved her in return. For the last nine years, Jane faithfully prayed for all those who were sick or sad in the retirement communities she called home and was always ready to give a smile and a hug. Jane will be missed by many, especially her family and her close friend, Lisa Hawkins. Jane is survived by her brother and sister, Robert Huffman and Lydia Huffman Hoyle, their spouses Lynne and Rick, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Matthew Hoyle (Kim Vuong), Haley Huffman Whitener (Daniel), Michael Hoyle (Devan Anhut), Graham Huffman (Erica), Jessica Hoyle, and Cole Huffman.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 23rd at 4:30 p.m. Please email Lydia Hoyle at hoyleL@campbell.edu to participate. A family burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane's memory to a charity of your choosing or to The Arc of the Triangle.

Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is serving the Huffman family.
