Maeda was an inspiration to students in the School of Social Work, and connected with people whether they were in her classes or not. Running into Maeda was always a pleasure, and changed the course of one's day. Even years after my MSW, I would occasionally see her and loved basking in her positive spirit! Condolences to her family and everyone touched by her.

Dear Friends, I was so sad to hear of Maeda's passing. I knew her professionally and personally and enjoyed getting to know her and working with her on the Handbook of Social Work with Groups. She was a joy to to be with and I feel privileged to have been her friend. She was also such an inspiration to me as a woman who had walked the path of social work scholar before me. Please know I will always hold her in my mind and heart. Lorraine

Over all these years I have never forgotten the wonder of Maeda Galinsky as a teacher and a mentor. Her energy, her enthusiasm, her commitment still resonate in me. My life has been about activism to bring a light to injustices and entrenched meanness with the desire to bring a softening and change in attitude.Thank you to her and all the staff at the UNC School of Social Work.

I knew Maeda from IASWG. She was a wonderful mentor to me....always offering her help and support in my career. I always loved our walks together at symposia locations.
