I have spoken to Rose Marie last when Oliver's wife and your niece and her family
were to visit you both the next day. She was in good spirit and then she had passed
on the phone to you. It was God's plan for Rose Marie to meet your closest family.

I love you Auntie Rose, we all do. Everytime I picture you it will be with your great, big smile. I keep thinking of our lovely, long chats over our cups of N’espresso :) in your kitchen last year. I love that our birthdays are a day apart, and we may not be able to call each other anymore, but I’ll still share a quiet conversation with you every year at that time. As my godmother I know you’ve prayed for me a lot and I know I can count on you to continue. Thank you for your beautiful example and your guidance. You were a strong, intelligent, loving woman with a fervent faith in God. Thank you for sponsoring us and bringing us to the States. Our lives would be so different otherwise. Thank you for the wonderful memories we’ve had over the years and for being Mom’s older sister. I LOVED listening to Mom talk to you for hours on the phone and the laughter you would share. I’m going to miss you Auntie Rose, we all are. Though we are so sad at your sudden passing, we know you are in heaven now and catching up with everyone ☺️, having a blast, so that is comforting. I met Rose Marie soon after she moved to Kensington Drive in Chapel Hill in 1980. We entertained each other on walks and at dinner and other parties for 30 years and, after Eben and I moved to Colorado, kept up by email. I remember dinners outdoors on the D'Silvas' patio in the blazing heat, and others in the dining room, and Rose Marie's delicious food. After the 1995 hurricane, the D'Silvas' doorway was eight feet deep in detritus, but no one was hurt, and we could laugh about it afterwards as we partied for days at dinnertime at Mary Andersen's in order to eat all the food our freezers could no longer keep safe.
Rose Marie was a faithful friend and wife, a devoted Christian, and a grandmother beyond compare. I will miss her, and I'll never forget her.

I have been deeply saddened to know the passing of Dr.Rose Marie D'silva. She was not only my chemistry teacher but was my mentor at Morris Harvey College in WV…and I could not have accomplished myself without her sincere supports. I owe everything of what I am today to her. She always wrote me back to my X'mas card every year. She was such a heartwarming lady. I miss her so much. I will never forget her...May she rest in peace.

The news of Aunty Rose's death came as a shock to all of us. We cherish memories of our Sacred Heart Enthronement on the 9th January every year. Granduncle Leo used to entertain us on the Soares NIENDORF piano.

Dear Themis, Marisa, Karena, Carl, Marc and family and to all Rose Marie’s family,
I am lost for words, but then no words can ever render meaning at times such as this. Death it seems is life’s inevitable destiny — it has the final word.
It was a terrible shock Themis, when you phoned me on Wednesday morning. Sorry I was simply lost.
You both have been our best friends, friends we have greatly treasured and were privileged to have. You have been friends for many many years, going back to school and college days. Rose Marie was a beautiful person of great magnanimity, of integrity, immensely caring of her family and friends and always there, in times of need. This caring and loving nature no doubt endeared her to many. Rose Marie is now no more with us.
There is nothing I can say or do that can ever succor you, but know that our deep sorrow and our love and prayers are with you all.
At times such as this I seek recourse in the words of our ancient sages who perhaps said it best and I quote:

Aunty Rose was a caring aunt who welcomed us when we first moved to Chapel Hill nine years ago.She kept in touch with my mother, Ann Flores , who lives in Pune, India over the past 50 years with yearly birthday letters and Christmas cards. They shared childhood experiences as cousins, both during visits to Pune and later when my mother taught in Karachi .
She enjoyed family get togethers and was always keen to meet younger members of the extended family. She loved to talk about her grandchildren and stayed involved in their many activities. She had a wonderful zest for life. We enjoyed a slide show of her trip to Spain a few years ago , when she was part of a language exchange program. She easily formed friendships with the young adults in the group. I have relished her delicious cakes, curries and casseroles.
My heartfelt sympathies to Uncle Tim ,Marisa, Karena, Marc, Carl and all their families . May she Rest In Peace.
