Obituary of Kristine Lindahl Currie

Please share a memory of Kristine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Chapel Hill - Mrs. Kristine Lindahl Currie, wife of John Stuart Currie, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Kristin was a graduate of the UNC School of Nursing and subsequently worked as a Registered Nurse in the Duke University Medical Center Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program.  She was an advocate for mothers of children with special needs and founded several online groups to provide support to them.  Kristine was a lifelong vegetarian and a strong supporter of the rights of immigrants.  She was a devoted wife to her husband John, a wonderful loving mother to her two boys, and a constant support to many other mothers as well.  Her family will miss her deeply, as will her many friends here and all over the country.

A funeral service was held at the Chapel in the Pines, on Saturday, May 25, at 3:00pm, burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.

In addition to her husband, Kristine is survived by her two sons; her mother, Mary W. Lindahl, of Alexandria, VA; sister, Virginia Lindahl, of Washington, DC; brother, George Nolfi, and his wife, Teri, of San Marino, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider making a gift to the Kristine Currie Scholarship Fund at Carolina Friends School online, or by mail (4809 Friends School Road, Durham, NC, 27705). For questions related to contributing to the fund, contact Jan Zink, Director of Advancement at 919.383.6602 ext.*243.
