Obituary of Velva Davis Franklin

Velva Mae Franklin went home with the Lord on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 at the age of 86 years old. She was surrounded by her family at the Twin Lakes Retirement Community.
Velva was born on June 12th, 1932 in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She was born to the late Nora Ray Bivins and and Charles Davis. Velva had one sister, Edith Faye Wiles whom she loved spending time with. Velva graduated from Hillsboro High. Shortly after graduating she married Carlton Lonnie Franklin on Oct. 15th, 1954. Velva worked at the Colonial Inn in Hillsborough as a waitress for 32 years. She always loved people especially her family hence the reason she lived in Hillsborough her whole life.
She was survived by her five children: Edward Franklin and his wife Mary, Paula Dean-James and her husband Charlie, Gary Franklin, Kelly Hamlett and Renee Franklin. Velva also has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchilddren.
Velva was predeceased by her husband Carlton, her mother Nora, her father Charlie and her sister Faye.
Arrangements for Velva Mae Franklin. Visitation will be held at the Hillsborough Pentecostal Holiness Church on 117 West Hill Avenue South starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 30th, 2019. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am at the church presided by Rev. John Gaithers and Rev. Steven Edward Adams. Interment will be at Rosewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends afterwards at the church Victory House for lunch.
The pallbearers are Anthony Dean, Charlie Franklin, Jeffery Dean, Matthew Bowes, Dallas Bowes, Jacob Raper and Cole Raper.
