Obituary of Edith Gayle Meadows

Edith "Gayle" Sharpe Meadows, 76, of Burlington ran into the arms of God Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Edgewood Place.

She was born on June 21, 1942, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Clarence Newton, Sr. & Mary "Erma" Sharpe.

Survivors include her children, Judy Marie Herrington Gray (Tony) of Franklinton, Diana Louise Herrington of Hillsborough, Sara Lynn Meadows of Efland and Johnny Dwain Herrington of Stonington, CT. Grandchildren Johnny Dwain Herrington II, Levi Shane Herrington, Ashley Nicole Sanderson, Katelyn Marie Howerton, Briana Lane Gray, Caleb Matthew Hill and Ericka Elizabeth Hill. Brother Clarence Newton "Sonny" Sharpe, Jr. (Lettie) of Whiteville and Rebecca "Becki" Lee Sharpe (Efland). Several nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and Aunt Alice Clayton (Roxboro). Special friends Harold & Joy Hamann and Joe & Carolyn Lloyd.

In addition to her parents Gayle was preceded in death by her brothers Wilbur Ray Sharpe (Elizabeth) and Donald Anthony Sharpe and special friend, Pat Whyers.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2019, in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral Home and Crematory of Mebane, located at 304 W. Center Street with Rev. Susan Pasour officiating. Visitation will follow from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to NC Special Olympics or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
