Obituary of Harvey Lee Hill

Mr. Harvey Lee Hill, age 86 of Haw River NC; formerly of Fayetteville, NC; Radford VA; and Wagram NC went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness surrounded by his wife and children.  Harvey was born on October 21, 1932 in Horry County, South Carolina to the late R.D. and Annie Wilson Hill.  Harvey was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He was a kind and gentle man, loved by all who really knew him. He loved his family; fishing off the coast; nature (including the squirrels that ate the pecans off his trees); country and blue grass music; old timey church hynms; and a lively square dance.  Harvey was a deeply spiritual man who enjoyed working with his tools, working in his yard, and "tinkering on just about anything."  Harvey was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of First Baptist Church of Mebane.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gertrude Laviner Hill; daughter Judy Hill Butler and husband Yonnie D. Butler of Mebane; son Ricky Len Hill and wife Marji B. Hill of Murphy NC; two brothers Roger Hill and wife Lavonne, Horace Hill and wife Carol, two sisters Daisy Christmas and Sallie Watts; grandchildren Rebecca Holland(Gary), Jamie Joseph (Rachel),  Chris Hill (Jessica) and Jordan Henderson (Justin); great grandchildren: Riley Joseph, Mitchell Joseph, Casey Holland, Samantha Holland, Evelyn Hill, Eleanor Hill, Daves Waggle and Darenger Henderson; and caretaker Sheryl Stout.  Harvey was preceded in death by one sister Bessie Davis. 

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday December 30, 2018 at 3:00 pm in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel of Mebane.  A visitation will be held prior from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Walker's Funeral Home and Crematory of Mebane, 304 West Center Street.   

A second funeral service will be conducted on Monday December 31, 2018 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 24220 Main Street Wagram, NC starting at 1:00 pm.  A visitation will be held  one hour prior to service in the church starting at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
