I just heard of Brett's passing and I wanted to express my condolences to his family! We have worked together on several projects and we shared a love for music and playing the guitar (our work conversations would always follow up with music or playing). The music lives on my friend!

Hello Englund Family, I'm a neighbor living in the area. Having heard of your most recent, and very tragic loss, I want to leave you a brief post. I too, well know the grief of losing love ones, and that at times like these, it is encouraging just to know that others are thinking about us. Something that has really helped me to cope with such losses, is the wonderful promise of Christ Jesus, recorded for our comfort at John 5 :28,29. I hope, that when you are feeling up to it, that you are going to look up these powerful Scriptures, in your copy of The Bible. While our tastes intersected only some of the time, Brett and I shared a love of music. We often carried on entire email conversations using only song titles and lyrics! I often laughed out loud when he sent me a YouTube video or audio clip that perfectly illustrated the point he wanted to make. When I was able to pass along Merlefest tickets, he came back talking about seeing entertainers and friends he had not seen in decades. He was one of a kind. May God grant his family the peace and serenity that comes from knowing he touched many lives in a positive way.

Brett earned the respect of everyone with whom he came in contact; co-workers, sub-contractors, vendors, and most notably, his customers. Brett was a co-worker that I had the privilege of working with for well over a decade. Intelligent, witty, a bit crazy like all of us, I am happy we shared a common love of music. We’d talk John Prine, Levon Helm and many other obscure acts that only we knew in our older age. Those talks are a wonderful memory now, one I’ll always look back on fondly. Brett was a consummate professional in his occupation and applied himself diligently to a career that is demanding in the extreme. Brett was a good man. He was a loving and very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a good musician, diligent in his chosen field of commercial construction, and excelled at whatever he chose to apply himself to. I will always love him, and will miss him until we meet again in the afterlife.
